Built at Cockatoo Dockyard in Australia and commissioned into the Royal Australian Navy in 1929 as a seaplane tender to six Supermarine Seagull amphibious aircraft. She was transferred to Britain in part-exchange for the cruiser HMAS Hobart in 1938 and operated Walrus aircraft (essentially upgraded Seagulls) until 1942 when she became a repair ship. Torpedoed in 1944, she was not repaired until after the war when she was rebuilt as a passenger ship (Hellenic Prince)! Finally she was broken up in Hong Kong in 1954.
