Banana vans were commonly seen operating in block trains from the Bristol Channel ports in the 1950's. These vans were specially constructed, fitted with steam heating and extra insulation to maintain temperature and rippen bananas in transit.
Dapols' model represents the BR built vans, with doors designed to maintain a good seal. This wagon carries advertising forĀ Geest, one of the principal UK banana importers.
