Bachmann OO 39-005 Highlander Coach Pack Mk2A TSO & Class 101 DTCL Green & Cream Tourist Livery
A very interesting coach pack from Bachmann featuring a BR Mk.2A TSO touriset second open class coach plus an ex-DMU driving trailer coach, in service as an observation saloon. These coaches carry the green and cream livery applied to coaches being used on the Highlander tourist train service along the West Highland line between Fort William and Mallaig. Era 8. 1982-1994
British Rail operated an observation saloon on the scenic West Highland line for many years. By the 1980s the old ex-LNER saloon was becoming very expensive to maintain and DMU trailer cars were converted to take over the saloon role.
Typical traction for the Highlander service includes class 37/4 diesels, plus the preserved LNER K1 class and ex-LMS 'Black 5' steam locomotives.
