The class 67 locomotives were built with the operation of overnight express mail trains in mind, being suitable for high speed operation and equiped for passenger service. Many of thee engines are used on locomotive hauled passenger services, including the Caledonian Sleeper and for excursion trains. The engins are also used for lightly loaded and fast freight trains, making a 67 a useful addition to a modern model railway.
Hornbys' model of the EWS/DBS class 67 locomotives captures the 'inverted skip' look of the body shape but is finished with very fine detailing, including fine see-through grilles.
