The 30 class 67 Bo-Bo diesel electric main line locomotives were built for the English, Welsh and Scottish railways (EWS) between 1999 and 2000. They were built in a joint venture between Alsthom in Valencia and Electromotive Diesel who supplied the prime mover, power and electrical systems. The locomotives were ordered as replacements for the ageing BR class 47 diesels on high-speed, passenger and parcels trains. After modifications class 67s were passed for running up to 125mph in 2003.
Following the withdraw of the Royal Mail contracts and Travelling Post Office services the locomotives have been deployed on other duties, including freight services and hired to passenger operators including ScotRail, Wrexham and Shropshire and Chiltern Railways. A number of the class have been stored in recent years and two were purchased by Colas Rail in 2017 for use with the Network Rail infrastructure monitoring trains.

The Dapol Class 67 includes the following features

  • Finely detailed moulded body, chassis and bogies
  • Detailed, finely-printed graphics
  • NEM coupler pockets
  • Directional lighting
  • DCC ready
  • Improved rare earth magnet motor generating up to 50% more torque for enhanced slow running speed
  • All wheel pick up with tungsten chassis for fantastic haulage
  • Detailing and accessory pack included
  • Low friction mechanism for efficient quiet running
