USCGC Courier was a C1-M type standard freighter completed at the end of WW2. By the late 1940s, she had joined the US Coastguard fleet and was acting as a radio relay ship in the Caribbean for "Voice of America" and similar stations. She was laid up in the early 1960s but re-activated in 1966 at Yorktown as a Coastguard training ship, as modelled here, until 1973. Scrapped in 1977.
