Zulu Wars

The Zulu wars exposed both great stength and great weakness in the British army. Facing a fanatical enemy of lightly armed but highly mobile soldiers skirmishing tactics which might have been successful against an organised European army were often overwhelmed. More cautious commanders proved concentrated firepower could hold off repeated attacks.
