USSR & Russian Federation

Detailed 1:1250 scale models of ships in commission with the naval forces of the USSR and Russian Federation from the Cold War to the present day.
A 1/1250 scale resin model of Drydock PD-50 sinking in 2018 by Coastlines Models CL-D06b.

At the end of October 2018, the Russian floating drydock PD-50 spang a leak with the aircraft carrier Admiral Kuznetsov inside it at the town of Roslyakovo near Murmansk. The dock settled on the bottom with a list to port and only the after starboard side left above water. The starboard 100ton crane landed on the carrier's flight deck and the dock damaged the carrier as it floated free.

The Project 1135 Burevestnik (Storm Petrel) class was a series of frigates built for the Soviet Navy. Commonly known by the NATO reporting name of Krivak the class developed as Krivak-I, Krivak-II (both navy), and Krivak-III (coast guard) sections.

The ships were designed as a successor to the Riga class, started in the late 1950s and maturing as anti-submarine in the 1960s. A total of 40 ships were built, 32 ships for the Soviet Navy (Russian Navy) and 8 modified ships of Nerey (Krivak III) subclass for the KGB Maritime Border Guard. Currently 7 of Nerey subclass are in FSB Coast Guard and one is part of Ukrainian Navy.

The ship's unique features—the bow missile box, the stack and the angled mast, earned it a rap-like nickname among US sailors that comes from their foreign ship silhouette identification training — "Hot dog pack, Smokestack, Guns in Back — Krivak."

How many ships remain in active duty is uncertain. According to some sources Russia has four units in service and the Ukrainian Navy one. Russian press listed three units operational in February 2008, one with the Baltic Fleet and two with the Black Sea Fleet (BSF). With thanks to Wikipedia!

Arktika-class building is a waterline, 1/1250 scale model of a Russian nuclear-powered icebreaker under construction by Rhenania, Rhe187BZ. Originally, this model was named and numbered for Ural but as it has now entered service, Rhenania has fitted the hull transfers to suit Arktika or Sibir, the first two members of the class of three. Currently, Antics have both Arktika and Sibir in stock and if you express a preference, we will try to meet that. We have been advised that Rhenania does not intend to make more models as being built, so when they are gone we will not be allowed to re-order..
