TT:120 Diesel Locomotives

Diesel locomotive models
The Class 43s would begin to see a reduction in their use as electrification became more widespread around the UK, with their services no longer being required on the East Coast Mainline. With the introduction of the Class 800 sets the Class 43 has been relegated to regional services with Scotrail and GWR being the two largest operators of the Class in 2022. Due to the locomotives status as the fastest diesels in the world many examples have been preserved.

Nicely detailed model of one of the true survivors of the BR class 08s, D3986 modelled in early life.
Completed at Derby in August 1960 in this BR green livery with later lion holding wheel crests and wasp-striped ends D3686 was sent to the Western region, initially at Tyseley (Birmingham), but quickly moving south to Gloucester until mid-1963. The locomotive then moved to South Wales, allocated to Llanelli, Danygraig and finally Landore (Swansea) from April 1964. Renumbered 08818 in 1974 the locomotive was withdrawn from service in April 1997. However, unlike many hundreds of 08s sent for scrap 08818 had reached the privatisation era and was purchased by the Harry Needle Railroad Company and is still in service, now as GB Railfreight 4 Molly, also modelled in the Hornby TT120 range, reference TT3003.
