EMD's European freight locomotive. Ordered by the Wisconsin Central RR for their new British subsidiary EWS these heavy freight diesel locomotives were developed from the preceding class 59 design. Quickly establishing a reputation for haulage capability and reliability 651 examples have been built for operators in the UK and mainland Europe.
