British Warships WW2-1960

1/1250 scale metal models of two RN Brave class. HMS Brave Borderer and Brave Swordsman, the two members of the class that was to be the last of the type built for the Royal Navy. 1/1250 scale metal, assembled, painted and finished models as built 1958/60.

The Brave class had a high service speed of up to 52 knots and carried four 21" torpedo' , 2 depth charges and a 40 mm Bofors cannon! They were in service from 1960 to 1970

A 1/1250 scale metal waterline model of F14 HMS Leopard, a type 41 diesel-powered air defence frigate by Albatros SM Alk 343. The models is sharly cast with brass gun barrels and aerials and nicely painted with dark green decks, see photograph.

HMS Jutland a 1/1200 scale, metal, waterline kit of a second group Battle-class Destroyer from 1946 onwards by Fleetline FD1a (kit)

HMS Dunkirk is a 1/1200 scale second-hand model of a later-style Battle-class destroyer completed and painted from a Fleetline kit by the previous owner, see photograph.

HMS Jutland is a 1/1200 second-hand metal waterline model of a later Battle-class destroyer from 1946 completed and painted by an expert modeller, see photograph.

HMS Cadiz  is a 1/1200 scale second-hand waterline model of an early Battle-class destroyer made and painted from a Fleetline kit by a careful modeller, see photograph.

HMS Saintes is a 1/1200 scale second-hand metal model constructed and painted by the previous owner from a Fleetline kit. The model is finished in overall dark grey and appears to represent the ship when first completed in 1944/45, see photograph.

HMS Marvel is a 1/1200 scale, metal, waterline kit of a large minesweeper by Fleetline FM3 (kit).

Fleetline kits are well cast with sharp detail and were considered to be some of the best available in their day.

A 1/1250 scale metal model of the Royal Fleet Auxilliary Bishopdale which was based on a standard wartime armed tanker but with the AA guns removed from the gun tubs. The model is painted in light grey as was used on warships after WW2 but with a black hull below the weather deck..

Royal Navy Aircraft Carrier HMS Eagle as in 1954 before going in for angle deck refit. This is a second-hand model in very good condition, see photograph.

A superb diecast model, certainly the best of this ship! Although the main armament of 8 x 15" guns was rather outdated, having been provided from spares for earlier ships, the Vanguard was an effective warship. The last of the British leviathans!

A 1/1250 scale model of the lead ship, of the Daring class of super destroyers, that entered service in 1952 by Albatros SM Alk302.

HMS Daring was built at Swan Hunter and Wigham Richardson on the Tyne. To improve the AA capability of these big destroyers a main armament of 6x4.5" guns was fitted.

The Whitby class Type 12 Frigate  included 6 ships of the Royal Navy. Designed as anti-submarine frigates. WITHBY was built by
Cammell Laird & Co and was commisioned in 1957.
Max. 2600t displacement, 110 x 12m, max. 30 knots turbine drive via 2 screws,
crew 152,later 225 people. 1977 sold for scrapping.

A 1/1250 scale model of HMS Chichester by Albatros SM, Alk342A

Sister ship of HMS SALISBURY, built at Fairfield Shipbuilding &
Engineering, Govan. Completion: 1958. Before various renovations
the ships of the class still have lattice masts. This shows this original state
Model.
In 1981, HMS Chichester was scrapped.

Ark Royal (IV) is a 1/1250 scale waterline model of the large fleet carrier immediately before her first major refit in 1956. This model is cast in metal and fully painted and finished by WDS in Germany, catalogue number WDS K 017
