BR Mk1 Coaches by Lionheart Trains

Highly detailed models of BR Mk1 coaches. British Railways standard passenger coach design from the 1950s. Many remain in service today with Britain's heritage railways.
The second batch of these highly detailed and finely moulded models of the British Railways standard mark 1 design coaches will feature the later external window frames. These frames were introduced with the later batches of the Mk.1 coaches  to make a better seal between the curved body profile and flat glazing units. Many earlier build coaches also received them retro-fitted to resolve bodyside rusting around the window corners.

The Brake Composite was one of the most useful coach types, combining first and second class seating with a guards' van and luggage area in one coach. Brake composite coaches had been used extensively to provide through services between railway companies. Nationalisation eliminated the need to switch coaches between trains but the BCK remained an ideal 'stand-by' coach, able to replace a defective coach of any type, provide passenger accommodation on overnight parcels trains or providing the core brake and passenger accommodation for a train which divided en-route to serve extra destinations.
The BCK is a good choice for the modeller with limited space, providing first class compartments for a short train.
