Self-propelled artillery piece developed by Nazi Germany during the Second World War. Introduced in 1943, it was designed to provide mobile fire support to armoured divisions, combining significant firepower with enhanced battlefield mobility. Hummel mounted the 15?cm sFH 18/1 L/30 heavy field howitzer on a modified Panzer III/IV hybrid chassis and offered long-range capability. Its open-topped fighting compartment allowed for ease of operation and loading but exposed the crew to overhead threats. More than 700 were produced between 1943 and 1945, and the machine served on both Eastern and Western Fronts.
