Built by Wm. Denny as a replacement for War losses in 1947, Winchester was primarily a livestock ferry but she did have accommodation for 10 passengers. She operated from Southampton to the Channel Islands until 1965 when the route changed to Weymouth to the Islands. The following year the livery was changed to Sealink livery.
