Esso Lyndhurst was one of 3 sisterships, the others were Esso Woolston and Esso Hythe built by Henry Scarr Ltd. of Hessle, Hull for the Esso Petroleum Co. Ltd., London. The tankers worked in the UK to the end of the 1970s. Esso Lyndhurst was sold to Saudi Bunkering & Transport of Jeddah in 1980 and on to El Hawi Shipping, Jeddah in 1982 and was scrapped at Gadani Beach in 1988.
