Saratoga Model Shipyard 1/1250 SMY36 USS Spica AK.16 1940-46
A 1/1250 scale metal model of USS Spica AK.16. Built in 1919 for the US Shipping Board as Shannock, she was transferred to the USN in 1921 and renamed Spica. She was laid up in reserve until 1940 and the guns were not fitted until 1940. She was assigned to Alaska in 1940 until 1943 and provided support for the recapture of Attu Island. Thereafter, she covered the area from Seattle to Hawaii, Funafuti and Kwajalein until the end of WW2
