Rhenania 1/1250 Rhe186CD Grande Francia (IMO9246592) of Grimaldi Lines 2002
A 1/1250 scale diorama model of the R0-Rofreighter Grande Francia in 2002 by Rhenania Rhe186CD. The model can be fitted with a loading ramp or a rear door and both are provided. A bespoke deck load to fit all Rhe186 models is also available at extra cost, see Rhe186Z.
The ships of the Grande Africa type seem to have been a good combination of mixed traffic freight because they are still in service with the original operator since they were new. In 2019, one of the original ships, Grande America, caught fire and capsized and sank in the Bay of Biscay but the crew were rescued by HMS Argyll. Lost with the ship were the last four Porche 911SR sports cars before the production line closed and they went down with the ship which was to have delivered them to customers in Brazil. Porche restarted the line to make four replacements!
