The “Sonderkraftfahrzeug 9” (Famo) was the workhorse for the very heavy loads of the Wehrmacht. With its 250 hp engine, it was primarily used to recover tanks and tow the heaviest artillery pieces. Around 2,500 examples were manufactured between 1939 and 1944. The guns that could be combined here were the backbone of the heavy artillery: the 17 cm cannon could attack targets up to 28 kilometers away, while the mortar was responsible for destroying fortifications.
