The U.S.S. Missouri, affectionately referred to as Mighty Mo , one of the largest and most powerful warships in the U.S. Navy, came to fame through the signing of the Japanese Surrender Documents. The Missouri was completed in June 1944 and was the last of a total of four ships of the Iowa-class who possessed an ideal combination of fire-power and speed. The Missouri's active service operations ranged from the Iwo Jima Landings in February 1945 to the cessation of hostilities in September 1945. She also served in the Korean War.
