03309, German A4/V2 Rocket (with Launch Platform & Trailer ) Initially called the Aggregat 4 (A4), Germany’s V2 (‘Retaliatory Weapon 2’) was the first long - range guided ballistic missile and the first man - m ade object to travel into space! First launched in anger in Sept ember 1944, more than 3, 000 of these weapons were fired, mainly at London, Antwerp and Liège .
