'Angle iron' is one of the most common basic sections. The right angle is used to make and reinforce right-angled joints, while the inherent the resistance to bending is used for light duty stiffening struts and bracing between columns and beams. Angle is also used to strengthen sheets, keeping flat surfaces flat and is ideal to make a hidden internal supporting structure for model buildings, using the moulded angles to keep corners square.
