Dressed in a dark green and grey camouflage garb is this right hand drive model of the Land Rover Forward Control GS (General Service)

This post-war Land Rover military truck was designed and built in the late 1960s and early 1970s, when its main purpose was as a gun tractor, equipment and ammunition carrier, produced with the familiar canvas back. A hard top version was also available for use with an ambulance or radio communication truck body. The vehicle was produced exclusively for the UK military but it did become available as ‘army surplus’ in the second hand market where it was particularly suited for expeditions and the like.

Back to Oxford's model – and its deployment with RAF Leuchars on the east coast of Scotland, where it was the home of 27th Squadron RAF amongst other RAF Squadrons along the way until 2015 when the station passed into the hands of the British Army. The model’s camouflage scheme is supplemented with a dark green canvas back, repeated on the wheels. The interior is moulded in dark green too. The exterior military registration plate 81 AM 36 is positioned horizontally above the nearside front wing as well as under the rear window. Rounding off a wealth of detail on this model, the formation sign is printed in blue and red on the offside front bumper and nearside rear bumper.
