The ubiquitous Ford Transit Mk 4 (3rd Generation 2000-2006) in 1:76 scale  has featured in Oxford’s small commercial category for many years in all scales and liveries.

The Ford Transit Mk 4 was introduced in the year 2000, having been designed by Ford in the USA. It contained many cutting edge features and was available with automatic transmission and with either a front or rear wheel drive, which gave the option of a lower loading height and more cargo space or the ability to carry more cargo and a greater towing capacity. The model came with a turbo-diesel engine which Ford also used on the 2000 Mondeo and Jaguar X-type.  Petrol engine variants were available up to the 2.3L 16-valve edition of the straight-4 engine. The Durashift  EST automatic transmission (optional on all rear-wheel-drive models) featured controls mounted on the dashboard, a specially adapted manual mode, tow-haul mode, economy mode and winter mode. 2002 saw the introduction of the first High Pressure Common Rail diesel engine in the Transit, with the launch of the 125 PS (92 kW) HPCR 2.0-litre in the FWD.  Additional features introduced in 2003 included a new instrument cluster with a digital odometer and from 2004; there was also an optional 6-speed manual gearbox

The 1:76 scale Oxford replica of the Ford Transit is registered BK53 NBO m from 2003. In contrast to the all white body with black and silver external trim, the interior is moulded in black including the floor, dashboard, steering wheel and interior door panels.  The seats are pale grey, the white rear double doors bear the Ford Transit nomenclature and the blue Ford badge is also positioned on the central edge of the bonnet above the black radiator grille.

On 18th July, 2005, two years on from the age of our model, the five millionth Ford Transit rolled off the production line. It was donated to a British charity. The Transit is still one of the favourite small commercial vans of all time and it just keeps on going!
