First introduced in 1948 the original 80 inch wheelbase Land Rover fulfilled a multitude of roles and the fire service was no exception. It saw service with many fire brigades both in Britain and overseas and was popular with private industrial fire brigades where its light weight and manoeuvrability made it an ideal first attack appliance. This version features an appliance that provided fire cover at its manufacturer’s engineering works at Solihull. Based on the standard pickup truck it features a canvas tilt accommodating an equipment box and three portable fire extinguishers that would be used in extinguishing fires in their early state. This 1:148 scale replica also appears in the larger 1:76 scale Oxford series and we love it equally in its diminutive form. Registered SWD 282, the model is completed with spare wheel on the bonnet above the signature Land Rover radiator.
