Adzuma served with distinction in the Russo-Japanese war, when she was heavily damaged. She survived to serve as an auxiliary in WW2 and was scrapped afterwards.
The casting carries the name "Azuma" the Japanese reform spelling of Adzuma. The reform spelling was generally used from the 1930s until the end of the second world war when the older spelling became the English norm once more.
