Navis Neptun 1/1250 1503 Conte di Cavour, a modernised Italian battleship (1938)
The model can also be taken to represent her sister, Giulio Cesare, which has never been modelled by Neptun.
After modernisation, these ships looked very hansome but their guns produced a wide shell pattern which resulted in few hits when engaging the Royal Navy in WW2. Cavour was sunk at Taranto in 1940 and took no further part in WW2. Cesare was damaged by HMS Warspite but escaped damage at Taranto. After WW2, Cesare was ceded to Russia and is believed to have hit a mine and been sunk in 1955.
