Navis Neptun 1/1250 14N SMS Worth, a German pre-dreadnought battleship.
A 1/1250 scale metal model of the German battleship, Worth. The 4 members of the Brandenburg class mounted 6x11" guns, albeit that the centre turret mounted shorter guns to allow training on both beams, but succeeding classes were more conventional with 4 big guns. The members of this class spent some time at Tsingtao on the China Station, initially in their Victorian livery, and two ships were sold to Turkey before WW1. The remaining pair were used for gunnery training and accommodation but the Turkish Heireddin Barbarossa and Torgut Reis were both active in the Balkan Wars, bombarding Bulgarian positions. Barbarossa was sunk by the British submarine, E11 in 1915 but Torgut Reiss became a school ship in 1928 and two of her 11" turrets with their guns were mounted overlooking the Dardanelles in the 1930s and the Torgut Reis battery survives to this day (without breeches in the guns) and can be visited on the Asian shore.
