Navis Neptun 1/1250 37N Kaiserin Augusta, protected cruiser, 1892
Kaiserin Augusta is a second-hand, 1/1250 scale, waterline, metal model of the German Protected Cruiser in 1892, modelled by Navis, catalogue number 37N. The model is in very good original condition, see photograph.
There has always been some confusionaround Navis numbering of this model. There have been three variations of Navis 37 models: basic,overall light grey with minimum detail, tropical livery, white and buff, and superdetailed to N-standard, in light grey with cast metal masts, boat davits and detaied boat interiors, etc. to late N-standards. All three models represent the ship from new to 1896, when most of the lighter guns were changed for a more uniform armament of larger guns. Some sources claim that this model has the bigger guns but the detailing and the Navis Neptun price list confirm that this model 37N is in 1892 condition.
This model has not been produced for at least the last five years.
