Navis Neptun 1/1250 27N SMS Von Der Tann the first German Battlecruiser 1910
SMS Von der Tann is a second-hand, 1/1250 scale, waterline, metal model of Germany's first battlecruiser from 1910-16 by Navis, catalogue number 27N.
Von der Tann was far superior to the Invincibles with eight 11in guns which were faster firing and longer ranged than the British 12in,and they could be fired across the deck to give a broadside of eight instead of six. The 11in shell could penetrate the armour of the british battlecruisers and the broader beam could enable better watertight sub-division. At Jutland all the main guns were knocked out but she kept her place in the battle line & got home safely.
