Navis Neptun 1/1250 142N HMS Comus, WW1 Light Cruiser that rescued survivors from the Alcantara
Nicely detailed diecast model of this attractive light cruiser.
Already under construction by the start of the war, at the Swan Hunter shipyard, Comus was launched in December 1914 and completed in May the following year. On 16th February 1916, Comus arrived on the scene of the battle between HMS Alcantara and the German raider Greif. Both ships were sinking and the Comus, Alcantera's sister ship Andes and the destroyer HMS Munster picked up survivors.
A member of the C class of light cruisers, Comus took part in the Battle of Jutland.
HMS Caroline still exists in Northern Ireland, the last surviving ship from the Battle of Jutland.
