Navis Neptun 1/1250 125N HMS New Zealand, British Battlecruiser, 1912
HMS New Zealand is a second-hand, 1/1250 scale, waterline, metal model of the British battlecruiser by Navis, catalogue number 125N.
Flagship of the older Battle Cruisers at Jutland, she appears to have been the only Royal Navy battlecruiser with anti-torpedo nets in the battle. Sister-ship HMS Indefatigable was not carrying the nets and may well have been in her 1915 camouflage with a blue rectangle on the hull sides amidships at this time.
Indefatigable, New Zealand and HMAS Australia differed very slightly from each other internally and around the bridge platforms. Indefatigable blew up and sank at Jutland, New Zealand was scrapped after WW1 and Australia was scuttled off Sydney (a casualty of the Washington Treaty). Australia and New Zealand were paid for by their Governments, as were Malaya (Queen Elizabeth class) and Canada (Almirante Cochrane class)
