Navis Neptun 1/1250 1045 KMS Emden, Germany's first new Light Cruiser after WW1
Emden is a second-hand, 1/1250 scale, waterline metal model of a light cruiser built in the 1920s to provide a modern training ship for the small German Navy permitted by the Treaty of Verseilles. This example is in excellent, original condition and is a fine example of Navis Neptun production in the heyday of the company, see the photograph of Neptun 1045.
Modelled as she was at the start of WW2.
Although some new ideas were tried, the hull was based on the later German designs of WW1. Considered obsolescent after the Norwegian Campaign, she was used as a training cruiser for the rest of the war.
A second-hand model with replacement masts and restored paintwork is currently available from Antics (stock number 3142908)
