She was sunk by Allied bombers at the end of WW2 in the basin in Kiel which was infilled after the war and used as a car park. As the entombed wreck has rusted and her hull plating has collapsed, the ground has subsided and the shape of the wreck can be seen under the grass of what is now a park.
