John's Model Shipyard 1/1200 MN101 Dunkerque a kit to make the French battlecruiser in WW2
Dunkerque was the first of a pair ofsmall fast battleships built by the French to counter the threat of the German pocket battleships. John's Model Shipyard has made a 3D printed kit to make into a 1/1200 scale model of Dunkerque. The kit is of Dunkerque at the outbreak of WW2 when the taller, curved funnel cap had been fitted to the ship.
The large photograph is of a model that has been made from the kit which needed topmasts making and the turrets adding and painting to complete. This model has the darker grey paint that was applied for service in the Atlantic but was retained when the ships were sent to Algeria after the fall of France. The darker grey and funnel band was still present when the ship was badly damaged by the British at Mers el Kabir.
