The Dodge WC62 was widely used during World War II by the United States Army. Introduced in 1943, it was further developed and produced in numerous versions, including the 1½-ton truck with six-wheel drive. The addition of a third rear axle allowed the Dodge to carry a significant load of equipment or 12 fully equipped soldiers in any condition and operational context. Extremely rugged and reliable thanks to its powerful 92 HP Dodge inline 6-cylinder engine, sturdy chassis, and leaf-spring suspension, it provided an effective solution to the logistical needs of the US Army, even on difficult terrain. The cab was open with a fold-down windshield to offer greater operational flexibility.
