The Transit is the name of a line of light commercial vehicles produced by Ford/Germany and Ford/Great Britain starting in 1953 for the European market. The real turning point was represented by the “Second Series” Transit introduced to the market in 1965. The vehicle’s configuration, characterised by a front-mounted engine, wide track, and low loading floor, was ideal for optimising transport activities. The Transit was also available—an innovation for its time—in a huge number of versions and configurations, ranging from the panel van to the chassis cab with flatbed and the minibus. A true partner for craftsmen, small businesses, and large companies throughout Europe that needed to meet short-range commercial mobility requirements. Italeri also used Ford Transit vehicles to deliver a special product: there scale model kits.
