Completed at Swindon in December 1954 82029 was sent to Darlington, working in the North East, working from West Hartlepool, Malton, Scarborough and York sheds until 1963 when the engine moved to Guildford. Moving to Bournemouth for the summer of 1964 82029 was at Nine Elms in September that year  until withdrawn from service in July 1967.
