The Black Rock Quarry loading wharf was connected to the Weston Clevedon & Portishead light railway by a long loop, the quarry often being able to load more than 20 wagons a day. The quarry company had a fleet of at least 75, and probably around 150 wagons, a mix of 4 and 5 plank types of various vintages! Later merged into the Roads Reconstruction group, around 130 wagons were listed as allocated to the Black Rock quarry in 1946, despite closure of the WC&PR cutting off rail access to the quarry in 1940!

Wagon 151 was photographed sometime after WW2 and next to a welded 16 ton mineral wagon, so possibly during the 1950s. By this time the wagon had been lettered for return to Frome and carried NON-POOL lettering from the WW2 period. We have backdated the wagon to pre-1940 when the wagon would still have been able to reach the Black Rock quarry and roadstone plant, taking empty to lettering from a pre-WW2 photograph of a Black Rock Roads Reconstruction wagon at Portishead.
