Coastlines CL-SA15 Friedrich der Grosse, refloated German battleship in Scapa Flow, 1937 1/1250
Friedrich der Grosse is the second 1/1250 scale model in the Coastlines Models series of German battleships salvaged from Scapa Flow between the two world wars. Friedrich der Grosse, former flagship of the High Seas Fleet, was refloated on the 28th April 1937 and is modelled shortly after the upturned hull broke the surface and when extra air was being pumped into the stern to level and stabalise the ship.
Models of Cox's floating dock sections that were used as pontoons to stabalise the refloated hull are available from Antics as is the model of the re-floated battlecruiser, Derfflinger (1939-46). One of the pair of floating dock sections is shown in the photo.
