New London Ledge is a most unusual rock lighthouse on the approach to New London. The light has a short range, 4th order lens and the building is sheltered behind the two islands defining the passage to the port. It had been intended to remove the high maintenance elegant house on automation but the local residents objected and so the building remains today over a hundred years since it was built.
The photograph of the model replicates a photograph of the lighthouse taken about 12 years ago with the trials submarine, USS Memphis, returning to her home port and passing close by the lighthouse. The submarine model is the Mountford Los Anglelese and is not included with a lighthouse model at the price advertisedhere.
