Coastlines 1/1250 CL-M598 Kamerun a German Navy WW2 auxiliary 1939-40
Kamerun,ex-Woermann liner from Western Europe to Africa, was taken into the Kriegsmarine in the autumn of 1939 and used as a depot ship and later as a repair ship. This model has been cast in resin in the UK in 1/1250 scale. The waterline model is made from from the original Mercator master model and assembled and painted by Coastlines Models, CL-M598.
Kamerun (Cameroon in English) had a sister ship, Togo, which was also co-opted into the navy but was selected to become an armed merchant cruiser in the middle of WW2 and the foredeck was raised ahead of the foremast. She was renamed Coronel and made two unsuccesful attempts to break the Britsh blockade. She was then converted with multiple radars to a night fighter direction ship under her old name. Both ships survived WW2.
