Coastlines 1/1250 CL-M529HS Robert Ley German Hospital Ship 1939
Robert Ley was converted to a Hospital ship from a cruise ship in August 1939 to support the German invasion of Poland. This model is a 1/1250 scale waterline resin model by Coastlines Models, CL-M529HS.
Robert Ley was built to the order of the DAF as a single-class cruise ship. Although often referred to as a sistership to the Wilhelm Gustloff, Robert Ley had a slightly shorter but beamier hull and had an extra passenger deck and could carry more passengers. She was taken over for conversion to a hospital ship as Ship B before the Wilhelm Gustloff (Ship D) but completed a month after her half-sister. As the Poles had surrendered by the time she entered service, she was little used and three months later she was decommissioned and became an accommodation ship, see Coastlines Models CL-M529)
