Coastlines 1/1250 CL-EX12 HMS Indefatigable exploding May 1916
HMS Indefatigable is a 1/1250 scale, waterline model of the British Battlecruiser exploding when on her beam ends during the "Run to the South" after the start of the Battle of Jutland on 31st of May 1916. The model is by Coastlines Models, CL-EX12.
Indefatigable was last in line of the British Battlecruisers and came under fire from Von der Tann. After a few minutes, Indefatigable received a number of hits aft in the region of her X-turret. It is believed that the after magazine detonated and blew the bottom out of the ship so that she began to sink by the stern. Indefatigable pulled out of line to starboard and came to a stop. A couple of minutes later she was hit by more shells amidships and around the base of the conning tower. A dull red glow was seen amidships and forward and A, P & Q magazines exploded. When the smoke cleared the ship had disappeared below the waves. Two survivors were picked up by a German Destroyer several hours later.
