When the two German battlecruisers arrived in Brest after a raiding cruise in the Atlantic, they became targets for RAF bombers and both were damaged. They were docked in the twin Laninon graving docks, side by side under camouflage netting. Models of both ships are available from Antics. There appeared to be a shortage of netting and so the bow of Scharnhorst was covered by different fabric, probably sacking or unbleached linen.
