CM Models CM166 Empress of India Canadian Pacific 1922 1/1250
A 1/1250 scale model of Empress of India in 1922 by CM-Miniaturen CM166.
Empress of India had been built for NDL in Germany as SS Friedrich Wilhelm. She was largely designed for steerage passengers with only a few cabins for first and second class passengers. In 1914 she was interned in Norway and surrendered to the British in 1919. After a couple of re-patriation voyages as USS Friedrich Wilhelm, she was sold to Canadian Pacific for whom she sailed as Empress of India, Montlaurier and, finally, Montnairn until scrapped in 1929.
A sister-ship, Berlin, laid mines in 1914 which sank the British Battleship Audacious. Berlin was also interned in Norway and later became White Star liner Arabic.
