Sister ship: HMCS PRESERVER. The two new joint support ships of the 2nd Protecteur class are the largest warships ever built in Canada. They are based on the German Berlin class, modified for the Canadian Navy. Built at Seaspan ULC/ Vancouver. 20,240t, 20kn, 173.7m long and 24m wide. Armament: 2x Phalanx CIWS, 4x 50 calibre RWS. In the enlarged hangar, two armed CH-148 Cyclone helicopters can be carried.
Canadian Supply Ship. A former container ship built by the Lloyd Shipyard in Wismar. In 2015, converted into a military supply ship at Davie Shipbuilding/Quebec and leased by the Canadian Navy. Before the conversion, it operated as a container ship under the names "MS Amorito," "Neermor," and "Cynthia." The owner was Briese Schiffahrts GmbH & Co KG. In 2018, the ship was commissioned by the Royal Canadian Navy. 26,000t, 182.5 x 25.2m, 20kn, Crew: 150, Armament: 3x Phalanx CIWS (usually not carried), 2x Sikorsky CH-148 Cyclones. (The two hangars can accommodate up to two Chinooks). In addition to 2 lifeboats, 4x RHIBs, 2x fast rescue crafts, and 2x LCVPs are carried.
