The '88' was designed as a Flak, or anti-aircraft gun and had a maximum horizontal range of 16,200 yards (14,813.30m) and an effective vertical range of 25,000 ft (7,620m). It could fire either a 20lb (9kg) high explosive or a 21lb (9.52kg) armour piercing shell at a rate of fire between fifteen and twenty rounds a minute.
The semi-track Sd Kfz 7 tractor was introduced in 1938 and remained in use throughout the war. It was capable of towing an eight ton load at 30mph (48km/h) on roads or 18mph (28.80 km/h) cross-country and could seat 12 men including the driver.
