At twenty-six years of age, dark-haired Scott is the eldest of five Tracy brothers. Born on 4 April he was named after one of the Mercury Seven astronauts, Malcolm Scott Carpenter, from NASA's Project Mercury space program. Scott was educated at Yale and Oxford universities. After graduating he served his country in the U.S. Air Force, earning many commendations for bravery and valour during his distinguished career. When his father, Jeff Tracy, founded International Rescue Scott was assigned to pilot Thunderbird 1, the organisation’s rapid-response reconnaissance craft. On arrival at the danger zone Scott’s primary role was to analyse the unfolding emergency and summon the most suitable rescue equipment from base. This would be transported to the danger zone by Thunderbird 2. When not commanding the operation from the ground, Scott would operate one of the many fantastic machines that were the trademark of International Rescue. Scott’s duties also extended to controlling the organisation during his father Jeff’s absence. In addition, he invariably accompanied his brother Alan into space as co-astronaut in Thunderbird 3. Scott appeared in every Thunderbirds tv episode – thirty-two in all, taking an active role in all but two rescues – and in two feature-length films. Scott’s puppet likeness was inspired by Scottish actor Sean Connery, while his distinctive voice was provided by Canadian actor Shane Rimmer.
