A spring-powered moving model of the Penydarren steam engine, the first successful steam locomotive engine built in 1804.
This straightforward assembly kit constructs a moving replica recreating the action of the pistion and gears to drive the wheels. No glue is required to assemble the kit, the completed model being powered by a spring mechanism with the winder concealed beneath the boiler.
Kit contains approx 30 parts. Suggested for ages 14 upwards.
Penydarren was created by Richard Trevithick in 1804 and ran between the ironworks at Penydarren and the Merthyr-Cardiff canal.
Glue and paints are required to assemble and complete the model (not included)
