The Royal Aircraft Factory’s ‘Scout Experimental 5’ or ‘S.E. 5a’ was a fast, stable and relatively manoeuvrable fighter introduced into RAF service in 1917. The S.E. 5a was fitted with a combination fuselage - mounted .303 Vickers and upper - wing mounted .303 Lewis machine gun, making it ideal for attacking high - flying enemy aircraft from below without being observed. In an effort t o meet demand, six different companies went on to manufacture a total of 5,265 aircraft! Marking this centenary year of the founding of the Royal Air Force, Revell’s kit features finely finished parts with a fully detailed engine, cockpit and undercarriage.
